Throughout my life, I have always found a need to help others in any way I can. I believe that teaching can help me pursue that passion everyday of my life. I want to be the person that students talk about when they reunite after years apart because I did something in my class that engaged them enough to leave a lasting memory. I want to be the listening ear for a child when no one else takes the time to do so.  Furthermore, I want to be the teacher that students cross their fingers for when they get their class assignment for the next year.

I believe that I can be all these things because of the training I have had and the skills I have developed. Through differentiated instruction, community-building classroom management, a variety of instructional strategies, technology and a light-hearted humour, I know that I can make a difference in the life and educational career path of a child. It starts with a smile every morning, and despite what happens in the class that day, it ends with a smile each night.

The Foundations of Education, care, respect, integrity and trust, will be present in my classroom and will be applied and expected by all those who enter. Teaching, for me, is about providing students with the opportunities and skills to explore what they are capable of and to encourage them to pursue their dreams. Learning is about being engaged in what is being taught and taking from it what is most relevant to you and your learning style and making it your own. I hope to instill this way of thinking into all my students and provide them with a variety of ways to see and learn about the world.
